French speaking Child Protection in Emergencies Specialist to Mali
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) recruits committed and skilled experts for our humanitarian, resilience and peace support operations worldwide on a daily basis. We have great experience on working together and strengthening other organisations for example the UN and the EU in crisis, conflicts or other disasters.
MSB is currently looking to recruit a French speaking Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) Specialist for a deployment with UNICEF to Bamako, Mali. Durations for the mission is initially 6 months with possibility for extension, with start as soon as possible.
Since 2012, Mali has faced a complex crisis marked by political instability, armed conflict, and natural disasters, severely limiting access to essential services, particularly for children. Armed groups and ongoing violence have caused mass displacement, with approximately 330,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs), more than half of whom are children (58%). These children suffer from severe violations of their rights, including recruitment by armed groups, exploitation, violence, and family separation.
UNICEF leads the Child Protection Area of Responsibility (CPAoR) and works to protect children through psychosocial support, family reunification, mine risk education, and reintegration of children associated with armed groups. In 2024, UNICEF reached over 68,500 children with protection services, but the needs continue to rise, with an estimated 1.7 million children requiring protection in 2025. UNICEF’s strategy focuses on strengthening community-based protection, providing multi-sectoral assistance, and enhancing awareness and prevention programs.
Employed by the MSB on an international mission you will receive a monthly salary of 62 910 SEK as well as a comprehensive allowances and benefits package, ranging from free home leave travel to access to psychosocial support.
