Environmental Field advisor till MSB:s resursbas
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) recruits and deploys committed and skilled experts for our humanitarian, resilience and peace support operations. MSB has accumulated vast experience from working together with and strengthening other organisations - most notably UN agencies, the EU and OSCE in disasters, conflicts and crisis management. MSB is now opening our roster to interested candidates seeking to work as Environmental Field Advisors with us in peace support operations. These roles are integral to addressing the interconnected challenges posed on Human Security through environmental degradation, climate change, and conflict in humanitarian and development contexts.
Climate change can lead to resource scarcity, flooding, and drought, threatening the stability of societies and nation-building efforts. Its negative impact on human health, ecosystems, and natural resources - particularly water - is becoming increasingly evident. National economies may be disrupted with costly consequences. Energy, agriculture, forestry, tourism, and the insurance sector are among the economic sectors most at risk of being affected by climate change. These consequences can increase the risk for conflicts to evolve and affect access to water, food, and other resources. Climate change and resource scarcity interchangeably form the basis for the instability of societal systems and are widely viewed by global actors to potentially fuel the development of conflicts or act as a catalyst for them.
As an Environmental Advisor, you will support the integration of environmental and climate dimensions into policies, operations, and conflict-sensitive approaches - —working at the nexus of humanitarian action, development cooperation, and peacebuilding. You will also play a role in strengthening climate-responsive governance in fragile and conflict-affected contexts, including advising on Security Sector Reform (SSR) initiatives.

Prior a mission with us you need to conduct the MSB induction training.
